The Crane enjoys the distinction of being the first ever Caribbean island resort. It opened its doors and beach to the world in 1887 and still manages to retain its old-world atmosphere and elegance. Its 40 acres sit on a cliff top overlooking the renowned Crane Beach, well-known for its seclusion and magnificent pinky-coloured sand.

The beach is reached by an elevator and offers guests safe swimming in its reef-protected waters. There are plenty of palm trees lining the sand, ready to offer their shade should you wish to relax with some holiday reading. Beach towels, sun loungers and umbrellas are available free of charge from The Beach Hut.

Away from the beach, guests can take advantage of the six pools, one of which is adorned by Doric-style columns and looks out over the beach. There are children’s paddling pools and a waterfall pool. Tennis aficionados will be able to enjoy a set or two even when the sun goes down at one of the two floodlit courts. Racquets are available free of charge.

One of the main attractions at the hotel is The Village. This is a large complex of gardens and cobbled streets fashioned in the best of Barbadian design. There are duty free gift and souvenir shops here and a weekly market offering local artwork and crafts.

When you are on holiday it is tempting to forget about exercise, after all, you have probably been more active than usual since you arrived at the hotel. However, if you need more, The Crane offers a fitness centre to let you work off any surplus energy.

At The Crane guests can fully relax with a spa treatment chosen from a wide range of services. Massage and body scrubs and beauty treatments are available and both men and women are welcome.

Destination weddings are becoming ever more popular and the Caribbean with its superb climate and stunning scenery is one of the most sought after locations. The Crane has a range of wedding packages which offer many options, all designed to provide a truly memorable day.

Dining

There are four restaurants and a bar at The Crane, all serving a variety of cuisines from around the world. Zen is a Japanese restaurant which also serves Thai cuisine and Sushi. L’Azure is typically Caribbean and serves all three main meals and a traditional afternoon tea. There is also an Italian restaurant and a poolside grill which serves more casual meals and cocktails.

Guests who would like to eat in their rooms can take advantage of the hotel’s in-room dining service.

Please note: Effective 1-Apr-19, the Barbados government has increased the mandatory room-rate levy to be applied to all hotels in Barbados and payable at the hotel on check-out. For guests staying at The Crane Resort this fee is increasing from US$5.50 to US$9.63 per room per night for the duration of your stay.
