Palm Island, The Grenadines
There are 32 islands in the St Vincent and the Grenadines group and Palm Island is tucked away at the southern tip. These islands are relatively untouched by tourism and are typically Caribbean; hilly, densely wooded in the centre, gradually sloping down to the sea where the vegetation gives way to the dazzling white sand of the beaches.
The Palm Island Resort has no less than five of these stunning beaches for guests to enjoy, and snorkelling gear is available for those who wish to take a peek at what lies underneath the calm, clear waters. Complimentary windsurfing, kayaking and Hobie catamarans can also be obtained on the beaches and lessons are available for those who need them.
Whether you are in trim or not a visit to the fitness centre will get your heart racing. There is a full range of cardio machines and weights so that everyone, from beginner to expert alike, can enjoy some healthy exercise. If tennis is more your style, then the hotel’s tennis court will be to your liking. All the equipment is provided. Golfers will enjoy the chance to keep their hand in on the pitch and putt course.
If all this activity puts you in the mood for a day of relaxation, the spa will provide the opportunity. There is a range of treatments to suit everyone, from facials to massage, and men and women are welcome.
A Caribbean wedding is the dream of many a bride-to-be and at the Palm Island resort, the dream can be turned into reality. There are wedding packages available to make the wedding go smoothly and various options can be ordered to complete the perfect day.
Royal Palm Restaurant
This is the resort’s main restaurant and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast can be a simple affair of local fruits and breads or an omelette cooked to choice. The lunch and dinner menus are based on international cuisine using local produce where available.
Meals on the beach would be the best way to describe the Sunset Grill which is open for lunch and dinner.
To stave off the pangs of hunger in the afternoon, a traditional English afternoon tea is available.
Palmview Rooms - 450 square feet
These rooms are spread among four structures in the resort's well-stocked gardens. They have king size beds and a sitting area which leads onto a terrace with occasional furniture and gives magnificent views over the pool or the beach area. A sofa bed gives additional sleeping accommodation if required. The decor and furniture create a real tropical island feel, with ceiling fans and exposed ceiling beams.
Beachfront Rooms - 450 square feet
These rooms have the same accommodation and amenities as the Palmview Rooms except that they are located by the beach. Their terraces have views of Union Island and the Caribbean Sea.
Island Lofts - 514 square feet
There are five Island Lofts at Palm Island. Three of them are built up on stilts and occupy space in the gardens, at the fringe of the beach. They have queen beds, a sitting area and bathrooms with large baths and separate showers. The terraces offer extensive views of the ocean. The other two Island Lofts are actually right on the beach. They have the same amenities as the garden lofts except that they have king size beds and views of the Tobago Keys.
All of the lofts have a typical Caribbean style to their decor, being fitted out with rattan furniture and brightly coloured accessories.
Plantation Suites - 560 square feet
There are four of these suites, all situated in a two storey structure which is beautifully hidden away in the gardens. The suites are luxuriously fitted out with queen size "sleigh" beds, a separate living area and a bathroom with shower. There is also a sofa bed in the living area which offers additional sleeping accommodation. The suites have a terrace or balcony with occasional furniture and views over the resort gardens or the sea.
Seagrape Suites - 560 square feet
These suites are the newest type of accommodation at the resort. They are similar in size and features to the Plantation Suites but have king beds instead of queens. Their balconies or terraces also have views of the sea or the gardens.
