The Inn at English Harbour
The Inn at English harbour has a dramatic position on a headland overlooking English Harbour, once an important base for the British Navy in the Caribbean. The Inn manages to combine old–colonial style with all the modern amenities and activities that today’s holidaymakers demand. Its 28 rooms are situated within a 19 acre estate, ensuring that there will be no possibility of overcrowding.
Antigua is often referred to as the heart of the Caribbean because of its central location and, as well as its natural beauty, it is steeped in a history which is linked with England. Just a few minutes from the hotel is Nelson’s Dockyard, now part of a National Park and once the main dock for English naval vessels plying the Caribbean. The site offers the tourist a glimpse of what naval life was like in the 18th century. The capital city of Antigua, St John’s, is only a thirty minute drive from The Inn and is well worth a visit for its shopping.
The beautiful white sandy beach at The Inn is, of course, a major attraction for its guests. Here they can laze under a palm tree or take part in one of the water-based sports that are available such as snorkelling, sailing and kayaking.
Away from the beach the hotel has two tennis courts, both lit for evening play and a fitness centre. The latter has plenty of equipment to satisfy even the most ardent fitness buff.
For relaxation, guests can do no better than to pay a visit to the spa. There is a wide range of treatments including manicures and hair care as well as an area to sit and enjoy a herbal tea.
The superb scenery available at The Inn provides the perfect backdrop for a Caribbean wedding and the hotel has wedding packages for those who wish to be married there.
