Hermitage Bay Hotel
The Hermitage Bay Hotel is situated in a sheltered cove, fronted by a superb 400 yard white, sandy beach. Its location provides guests with everything they could wish for in a Caribbean holiday and the hotel’s philosophy of “easy living” further enhances the experience.
The beach is a focal point for relaxation and activity. Relaxing is easy on one of the hotel’s loungers and there are plenty of activities to get you involved including swimming in the reef- protected waters of the Caribbean, windsurfing, kayaking, snorkelling and Hobie-cat sailing. For guests who are unfamiliar with any of these, basic tuition is provided.
At one edge of the beach is the hotel’s lounge. This is an open air structure which offers a place of refuge from the sun and is the perfect place to sit down and relax with friends or read a holiday novel. The views of the beach and infinity pool are another reason why the lounge is a popular venue.
Whilst it would be possible to spend a whole holiday without leaving the resort, there are numerous excursions on offer to Antigua and the other nearby islands. Deep-sea fishing and snorkelling trips to Cade’s Reef are popular activities which the hotel staff will be happy to arrange.
The Hermitage Bay Hotel is so laid-back that guests might not feel the need for a spa treatment. However, the hotel’s Garden Spa has a range of treatments based on the “Chakra” idea and anyone in need of a little pampering might enjoy a visit. At seven thirty each morning there is a dawn meditation at the spa and Pilates sessions are also available.
Caribbean weddings are becoming very popular and the scenery and climate experienced at Hermitage Bay make it an ideal location to be wed. Unlike some resorts, this one allows only one wedding per week, giving the hotel staff more time to devote to each one. Wedding packages are available which cover every detail of the big day, including accommodation.
As with everything at Hermitage Bay, eating is a relaxed ritual. Dress code is really non-existent in the restaurant – cool and comfortable is the recommendation. The menu changes every day and is based on local produce. Vegetarian dishes are always available.
In the evening, dinner is usually accompanied by local music, jazz or a steel band.
Guests who would prefer to eat in their rooms can do so although there is an extra charge for room service.
The hotel’s accommodation consists of 25 individual properties which have been laid out to blend with the natural landscaping of lush vegetation, sea and sand.
All Guest Rooms feature the following standard amenities:
- Premium bed linen
- Stylish bathroom with oversized bath, toiletries
- Flat screen TV/DVD

Guest rooms feature colonial-style dark-wood furniture, flooring and shutters. Neutral decor and tasteful accessories add to the impression of understated elegance.
Hillside Pool Suite
These suites benefit from peaceful and private locations throughout the hillside behind Hermitage Bay. The exclusive accommodation offers indoor and outdoor living space, including a bedroom with king bed, sitting area and wrap-around covered patio with furniture for dining and lounging. The properties feature a private plunge pool and sundeck which are screened from neighbouring suites and enjoy amazing views over the Caribbean Sea and the surrounding tropical landscape.
Beachfront Cottages and Beach Cottages
Both of these room categories offer exactly the same accommodation, but occupy different positions. Beachfront rooms, just a few steps from the hotel amenities, start at the edge of the beach and continue through to the gardens, while Beach rooms are located a row further back on the beach.
The properties feature an open-plan layout and have a bedroom with one king bed and a furnished sitting area. The spacious patio has an outdoor dining area, lounging furniture and a second outdoor shower. Guests are treated to a combination of sea/beach/tropical garden views.
